Born in Morocco, Soraya never thought to be a model. At a young age, her parents moved her to Montreal, Canada where she one day met a photographer who took her pictures and sent the photos to an agency. The rest is history.

Now she can be found on the pages of cosmopolitan and vogue. She has worked with Miuccia Prada for Miu Miu. She is not only a model she is also debuting her first documentary as a film director.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing her!

Hi, Soraya & Welcome To Medium!

What was it like being in cosmopolitan and vogue? What are some highlights of your career so far?

I think being in Cosmopolitan and Vogue was a big highlight in my career. Meeting Miuccia Prada when I worked for Miu Miu in Italy was definitely something I will always remember not only for what the brand stands for today but mostly for the woman she is, her kindness and her strength truly inspired me.

What are you proud of?

Right now what I am mostly proud of is my documentary and my new venture as a director. I never went to film school, I kind of just went for it and made it work. The stories I’m telling are very important to me. I want to use my voice to entertain but teach at the same time. Everything I do has a deep meaning to it. I started painting as well and I’m finding this new world where emotions are color and texture.

What is most important to you?

The most important to me is family, my roots. I’m proud of where I come from, I speak 4 different languages and whenever I speak English people wonder where It comes from and cant truly pint point what it is. I think that definitely describes me, I am all those languages and that accent you can’t really figure out.

We are so grateful to get to know Soraya.
